Blood can be one of the hardest stains to have to deal with and if it is on your furniture or floor it may seem next to impossible to get out. There are plenty of tips out there to remove blood stains but what you really need are tips that actually work. Blood stain removal does not need to be a stressful or hopeless event there are ways to get the blood out of your valuables.
The easiest blood stain removal technique involves getting to the blood stain while it is still fresh. Soak the area in cold water and then gently blot the blood out of the fabric, this may not get all the blood out but it will be a good step in the right direction. If the blood is not fresh you can still try this technique but with a bit of a twist, once you have put cold water on the blood stain, apply a bit of salt to the spot, and rub it in. As the blood starts to fade then use water to rinse and blot it out the rest of the way.
If you are trying to do blood stain removal on clothing you can soak old blood stains in some cold water with a bit of ammonia added to the water. If the blood stain is on white fabric you might want to try a bit of hydrogen peroxide with water, if the stain is still being stubborn add a bit of hydrogen peroxide and borax to the water you wash it in.
A soapy lather can also sometimes work very well on blood stains and this may be a good technique for blood stains on upholstery that you cannot soak. Hydrogen peroxide will also work very well on leather or suede if you should be so unlucky to get stains on them.
One of the hardest things to deal with is blood stains on is your carpet, fortunately many carpets today are treated with a stain resistance that will make blood stain removal much easier. Still you must get to it quickly and not let it dry if at all possible. Dawn dish detergent along with cold water is often all that it takes to get blood out, you should never use hot water on blood stains as it will make the stain set and you may never get it out. Blot it out with an absorbent towel or paper towels and you should have no trouble getting the stain out.
